This notice covers Muyang Chen’s personal website, muyangchen.me, and its comment service, comments.muyangchen.me.

Visits and analytics#

This site is hosted by Vercel. When you visit, the hosting service receives network request data such as your IP address, requested URL, time and browser information to deliver and secure the service. It may also retain operational and security logs.

This site uses Umami Cloud to understand page visits and traffic sources, and Vercel Speed Insights to measure loading and interaction performance. Metrics include visited pages and query parameters, referrers, device and browser types, approximate location and performance measurements. Umami’s web analytics do not use cookies, but do process IP addresses and browser information to generate visitor identifiers; using no cookies does not mean no data is processed. See Umami’s data documentation, its Data Processing Agreement and the Speed Insights privacy notice.

Comments and AI processing#

Comments use Waline, running on Vercel with data stored in a Neon database. Submissions store comment text, nickname, optional email, IP address, article path and timestamps to support discussion, moderation and abuse prevention. Your nickname and approved comment are public; your email and raw IP address are not. Pending comments are not public: the site administrator can review them, and you can view them in a browser that holds their management key.

Comment text, nickname, website link and relevant parent-comment text may be processed by Cloudflare Workers AI for moderation. Approved comments may also be translated between English and Chinese. Model requests do not include separate email, IP address or browser information fields. Personal information you put in the text, nickname or links may still be processed with that content. See the Workers AI data usage notice.

Loading the comment section may connect your browser to Cloudflare. Submissions use Turnstile to check for automated activity in the background. Cloudflare processes verification signals such as your IP address, browser and connection characteristics under the Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

Browser storage#

This site uses browser local storage for theme and language preferences, and for the comment component’s nickname, email, unsent drafts and like status. Successful new guest submissions also save a private management key so you can edit or delete them directly on the comment card without registering.

You can clear this data in your browser settings. Clearing local data does not delete server-side comments, and removes this browser’s existing guest management access. Edited comments await review again; deleting a comment also deletes its replies.

Third-party resources#

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, and some pages load math or diagram resources from jsDelivr. Your browser requests these resources directly, giving the providers your IP address and other necessary request information.

The services described above may process data outside your country or region. Their privacy notices or data processing terms explain their practices. When you follow an external link, the destination website’s own data practices apply.

Retention, deletion and contact#

Comments, translation caches and moderation records currently have no common automatic expiry period. Deleting comments and replies does not automatically clear translation caches or moderation records. Providers may also have different retention periods for logs and backups.

To request access, corrections or further deletion of data relating to you, contact [email protected]. Include the relevant page or comment link to help locate it. You can also email about older comments for which you no longer have a management key.

Changes to this site’s data practices will be reflected here with a revised last-updated date.
